The Froebel Gifts were the first educational toy developed by the inventor of Kindergarten, Friedrich Froebel. Froebel's work inspired Herr Richter to create the famous Ankerstein (Anchor Stone) sets beloved by children for generations. Albert Einstein, Frank Lloyd Wright, Buckminster Fuller, and many of the Bauhaus artists played with these blocks. The Anchor Stone blocks are made nearly the same way as they were over 100 years ago. Ground quartz, chalk, linseed oil and coloring are mixed, then pressed into precisely shaped molds. The Gift 4 set contains eight brick-shaped pieces in a sturdy slide-top box. Ages 3+ Made in Germany.
